Several recent studies have suggested that some people who work with cannabis may develop cannabis allergy. However, as many cannabis workers are also cannabis users, it has not been possible to determine whether the cannabis allergy is caused by exposure to cannabis at work, or personal use of cannabis.
The University of Washington is launching a study to evaluate the prevalence of cannabis allergy. The study seeks volunteers who are recreational users of cannabis and cannabis non-users who are not occupationally exposed to cannabis. We anticipate that this study will generate information regarding risk factors for developing cannabis allergy, and inform solutions that protect the health of cannabis workers and users of cannabis.
