Anecdotally, we know how powerful cannabis can be in reducing and even eliminating opioid use in chronic patients.  The case studies are compelling and life saving for the subjects, but personal stories don’t often break through the static to help policy makers and traditional medical providers reform practice and policy.  We are excited to host Maddy Grant and Steve Gongaware of Management Sciences Associates INC to come talk about the compelling data they have collected on the positive impact cannabis has on relief from opioid use.

MSA has long been a leader in data analysis and software, including in health care. Its life-sciences platform has helped clients understand how chronic diseases change a person’s behavior, helping clinics and hospitals manage patients throughout their treatment, and doing deep dives on utilization of health care facilities.

That analysis engine has led MSA to work with Vireo Health, a medical marijuana dispensary company in several states. And at Vireo’s request, MSA used its platform — along with its deidentification and matching features — to determine that customers of eight dispensaries in Minnesota were able to reduce their legal opioid use by 30% using medical cannabis.
